The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus - Solemnity - Year B

Feast of the Church : The Sacred Heart of Jesus, solemnity
S
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 19:31-37.

Bad Translations of the Jehovah's Witness Bible, the New World Translation (NWT).

Comparing versions of the Bible brings to light ‘bad translations’.
The “Catholic Comparative New Testament”, shows the rival translations of issue on the words, “look on the one” / “look on him”.  John 19:37

1.                  Rheims New Testament
HIM ‘look on him’
2.                  New American Bible
HIM ‘look upon him’
3.                  Revised Standard Bible
 HIM ‘look on him’
4.                  New Revised Standard Bible
the ONE ‘look on the one’
5.                  Jerusalem Bible
the ONE ‘look on the one’
6.                  New Jerusalem Bible
the ONE ‘look on the one’
7.                  Good News Translation
HIM ‘look at him’
8.                  Christian Community Bible
HIM ‘look on him’

Other translations highlight the emphases.
Most interesting is to compare Knox Bible and Amplifies Bible. Knox recognizes not the 3rd Person but the Person as such, ‘man’. Does Knox go beyond Zecharia? Amplified Bible acknowledges the 3rd Person and capitalizes it, ‘Him’. The later adds clarity, ‘amplifies’.

Crucified Christ by Cosmè Tura ca. 1430-1495

Zech. 12:10 - In this verse God is speaking and says, "And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son" (Zech. 12:10, NASB).
A.                The Jehovah's Witnesses change the word "me" to "the one" so that it says in their Bible, "...they will look upon the onewhom they have pierced..."
Since the Jehovah's Witnesses deny that Jesus is God in flesh, then Zech. 12:10 would present obvious problems--so they changed it.

Amplified Bible:
Zec 12:10  And I will pour out upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace or unmerited favor and supplication. And they shall look [earnestly] upon Me Whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for Him as one who is in bitterness for his firstborn. [John 19:37; Rev. 1:7.]

(KJV)  And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

(Vulgate)  et effundam super domum David et super habitatores Hierusalem spiritum gratiae et precum et aspicient ad me quem confixerunt et plangent eum planctu quasi super unigenitum et dolebunt super eum ut doleri solet in morte primogeniti

Knox Version : Jn. 19:37, … They will look upon the man whom they have pierced.
