Fr. Stephen - Diamond Jubilee

Fr. Stephen Patrick Murphy (85) Diamond Jubilee of Priestly Ordination.

The last of the ‘pioneers’, i.e. the last of the founders at Nunraw from the Mother House of Mount Saint Joseph Abbey, Roscrea.

Abbot - Intro. Mass - St Joseph the Worker, (1 May 2010)

60th Anniversary of Fr Stephen’s Ordination

Today we celebrate the feast of St Joseph the Worker.

We also celebrate another worker, Fr Stephen, who was ordained priest sixty years ago today.

In all those years Stephen has laboured for the good of the community in many small ways in spite of a great deal of ill-health.

Much of what he did was done unobtrusively and always with a broad smile or an amusing comment.

If he had been here at this early morning Mass, I’m sure he would have asked what ‘unobtrusive’ meant.

Stephen’s charm has spread far beyond the walls of the abbey.

Let us, therefore, today give thanks and pray for Stephen in his sixtieth anniversary.

1 Lord, you are the great reward for those who serve you
in others Lord have mercy

2 Lord, you give grace and greatness of heart to those
who do your will Christ have mercy.

3 Lord, you bless with eternal life all who follow
in your steps Lord have mercy

Prayer of the Faithful

God our Father, you created the world and continue to work for its good. We come to you in our work and in our needs, confident of your love and care for us.

Through Christ our Lord.
