Mary 22 August The angels rejoiced to see their queen; the apostles rejoiced to see their lady, and both obeyed her with loving devotion

SECOND READING

From a homily by Saint Amadeus of Lausanne, bishop
(Hom. 7: SC 72, 188, 190, 192, 200)

Queen of the world and of peace

Observe how fitting it was that even before her assumption the name of Mary shone forth wondrously throughout the world. Her fame spread everywhere even before she was raised above the heavens in her magnificence. Because of the honor due her Son, it was indeed fitting for the Virgin Mother to have first ruled upon earth and then be raised up to heaven in glory. It was fitting that her fame be spread in this world below, so that she might enter the heights of heaven on overwhelming blessedness. Just as she was borne from virtue to virtue by the Spirit of the Lord, she was transported from earthly renown to heavenly brightness.

So it was that she began to taste the fruits of her future reign while still in the flesh. At one moment she withdrew to God in ecstasy; at the next she would bend down to her neighbors with indescribable love. In heaven angels served her, while here on earth she was venerated by the service of men. Gabriel and the angels waited upon her in heaven. The virgin John, rejoicing that the Virgin Mother was entrusted to him at the cross, cared for her with the other apostles here below. The angels rejoiced to see their queen; the apostles rejoiced to see their lady, and both obeyed her with loving devotion.

Dwelling in the loftiest citadel of virtue, like a sea of divine grace or an unfathomable source of love that has everywhere overflowed its banks, she poured forth her bountiful waters on trusting and thirsting souls. Able to preserve both flesh and spirit from death she bestowed health-giving salve on bodies and souls. Has anyone ever come away from her troubled or saddened or ignorant of the heavenly mysteries? Who has not returned to everyday life gladdened and joyful because his request had been granted by the Mother of God?

She is a bride, so gentle and affectionate, and the mother of the only true bridegroom. In her abundant goodness she has channelled the spring of reason’s garden, the well of living and life-giving waters that pour forth in a rushing stream from divine Lebanon and flow down from Mount Zion until they surround the shores of every far-flung nation. With divine assistance she has redirected these waters and made them into streams of peace and pools of grace. Therefore, when the Virgin of virgins was led forth by God and her Son, the King of kings. amid the company of exulting angels and rejoicing archangels, with the heavens ringing with praise, the prophecy of the psalmist was fulfilled, in which he said to the Lord: At your right hand stands the queen, clothed in gold of Ophir.

RESPONSORY
Revelation 12:1; Psalm 45:10b

A great sign appeared in the heavens:
a woman clothed with the sun,
with the moon under her feet,
and upon her head a crown of twelve stars.

The queen, clothed in cloth of gold, stood on your right hand.
And upon her head a crown of twelve stars.

CONCLUDING PRAYER

Let us pray.

Father,
you have given us the mother of your Son
to be our queen and mother.
With the support of her prayers
may we come to share the glory of your children
in the kingdom of heaven.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
 Amen.

Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen
The festivities today parallels that of Christ the King was instituted by Pope Pius XII in 1955. He celebrated, until the recent reform of the liturgical calendar, May 31, crowning the singular devotion to Mary in the month dedicated to her. August 22 was reserved for the commemoration of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, which was replaced at the feast of Mary Queen to bring the kingship to his glorification in the assumption of the Virgin into heaven. This place of uniqueness and preeminence, next to Christ the King, the result of multiple titles, illustrated by Pius XII in his encyclical "Ad Coeli Reginam" (11 October 1954), the Mother of the Head and members of the mystical body of augusta sovereign and Queen of the Church, which not only makes it become part of the royal dignity of Jesus, but also of his life and sanctifying influence on the members of the Mystical Body.
The Latin "Queen", as "rex", derived from "regere", ie rule, govern, dominate. From the human point of view it is difficult to attribute to Mary the role of dominatrix, she was proclaimed the Lord's servant and spent a lifetime in the most humble obscurity. Luke, in the Acts of the Apostles, puts Mary among the Eleven, after the Ascension, raising with them in prayer; but it is she who gives orders, but Peter. Yet on that occasion she is the link that binds us to the Risen men not yet strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Mary is Queen because she is the mother of Christ the King. She is Queen because excels over all creatures, in holiness: "In her unites Whate'er of goodness is in any creature," says Dante's Divine Comedy.
All Christians see and venerate her as the overflowing generosity of divine love, which He has filled all good. But she distributes royally and maternally as received by the King; It protects children by his power acquired by virtue of its co-redemption and welcomes them with his gifts, as the King ordered that all grace steps for its hands of munificent Queen. To this the Church invites the faithful to invoke not only by the sweet name of mother, but also with what reverent queen, as in heaven greet with happiness and love angels, patriarchs, prophets, apostles, martyrs, confessors, virgins.Mary was crowned with the double crown of virginity and divine motherhood: "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God."
Etymology: Mary = loved by God, from the Egyptian; lady, Hebrew
Martyrology: Memory of the Blessed Virgin Mary the Queen, who gave birth to the Son of God, Prince of Peace, whose kingdom will have no end, and is greeted by Christians as the Queen of Heaven and Mother of Mercy.

The kingship of Our Lady is supernatural character, because Our Lady is the first and the highest of God's creatures. It is not the first in the order of nature, because the angels are naturally creatures higher. An angel is a pure spirit, and so it is something more than a human. But Mary is the first creature in the order of grace. He received a number of angels with incomparably greater. And the graces received by the angels are subordinate to the graces received from the Virgin Mary.
It is also the first of all women. First of all people is our Lord Jesus Christ; the first of all women is Our Lady. This alone is enough to give it the right the title of queen. Because the royalty is a situation "de jure" from which a situation "de facto". Who has the first right to rule and to be served, especially when his kingdom is linked to an eternal kingdom that will never end. This defines the royalty of Mary.
Our Lady is the first of creatures because it is the Mother of God. No creature has had or will have a union with the Holy Trinity as deep as his. He is the beloved daughter of the Eternal Father, admirable Mother of the Word Incarnate, the faithful wife of the Holy Spirit.
In addition, it is Queen because God has placed the government of all things in his hands. God has chosen not to do anything supernatural on Earth without passing by Our Lady. All the prayers that rise from the earth to heaven go through the Madonna; and all the graces that come down from heaven on earth do the same. If all Heaven asks something to God regardless of the Madonna, do not get; but if Our Lady alone among the citizens of heaven ask a grace, he would get. This makes it a queen throughout the fullness of time.
Now these concepts that define his heavenly kingship, his highest title, must find a match even in his earthly kingship or social. What is the social kingship of Our Lady? All human society should be organized so that everything is consistent with its will of Queen. All those who govern should follow his will. St. Louis IX of France (1214-1270) used to call himself "the sergent de Dieu en France", which can be translated freely, "the lieutenant of God in France".
He considered himself just an executor of the will of God, even though it was one of the most powerful monarchs of his century. But well he understood his mission, because it is exactly this that a Catholic king should be. The same should apply to the Madonna. Kings and rulers Catholics should be his lieutenants.
But what is the will of the Madonna? Since generally there appears mystically to send your prescriptions, how can we know His will? In fact, the will of the Virgin corresponds perfectly to Catholic doctrine and obedience to the Catholic Church. This is the will of the Madonna - and of God, because the will of the Virgin coincides perfectly with God's will. The clearest part of the will of the Madonna, the less subject to discussion, is that you obey the Catholic Church.
But there ' is another factor: the voice of grace that resonates within us. Grace tells everyone how to be a disciple and fulfill the plan that God has designed for him or her. This is what normally is called vocation. Vocation is the call of God, who is also the call of Our Lady, to achieve a predefined plan that they have designed for each of us. Therefore, correspond to their vocation also means doing the will of the Madonna.
And how do you pay to your vocation? First of all, it comes to doing everything in our power to preserve the deposit of Catholic doctrine taught by the Holy Mother Church. We know that after the Second Vatican Council this deposit of faith, morals, liturgy and canon law is systematically attacked by enemies of the Church who have infiltrated inside and offering to replace its doctrine with the teachings completions new and completely different. So obey his vocation today is to defend the Catholic doctrine against internal and external attacks. Be faithful to the call of Our Lady in our day is to struggle against the enemies of the doctrine of the Church.
There is another point I wish to. I speak often of a Kingdom of Mary as something future. But - he says - if you do the will of the Madonna is following the Church, no one could say that before the revolutionary crisis, the height of the Middle Ages, there was already a kingdom of Mary? Why then should we speak of a kingdom of Mary in the future?
I do not think that the Middle Ages was in the full sense of a Kingdom of Mary. He could become one.If it had not entered into a process of deterioration would be a Kingdom of Mary. The devotion to Our Lady was growing and just that marks the apogee of the Middle Ages. But soon it began to decline.God's plan in the making was stopped.
I should add that in the Middle Ages many of the truth on the Madonna had not been fully clarified. The doctors who studied the Virgin had not produced Mariology at those high levels that in fact this theological science reached after, not during, the Middle Ages. To limit ourselves to one example, the great voice of St. Louis de Montfort (1673-1716) in the Middle Ages had not been heard, or what he calls the true devotion to the Virgin Mary had been explained. Many other truth about Madonna is that then become the common heritage of the Church in the Middle Ages were not currently taught. You may think it would have been discovered had it not started and taught the crisis of the Middle Ages.
But it did not happen. The Middle Ages fell. So these truths have come to light later, and the fact that they emerged in an era of revolution and crisis has brought with it the consequence that you are immediately reflected appropriately in the social sphere. Theological truths have not been applied in society as should have happened. To the fullest glory of God, it is necessary that his plan is realized on Earth. And because Mary kingdoms on Earth is necessary that the truth concerning him is not only shared by the devotees but also unfold their effects on social life.
These principles relate to problems very deep history. But allow us to appreciate the full meaning of today's feast of the kingship of Mary.
